Heavy materials
Concrete, brick & soil - priced per tonne
Heavy waste is charged by weight rather than volume, because of the tipping fees at licensed facilities. The cleaner and better-separated your load, the cheaper it is to dispose of - mixing materials pushes it into a higher rate.

What happens to your construction waste
Construction and demolition waste is Australia's largest single waste stream, and most of it doesn't need to go to landfill. Clean, separated materials are recycled at licensed facilities - which is also why sorting on site lowers your disposal cost. Here's what can be recovered and what can't.

How to prep your site for a cheaper, faster pickup
A little preparation drops your price and speeds up the load-out - which matters when you're charged by volume or time. You don't need perfect separation; even rough sorting helps.
Keep heavy materials together
Stack concrete, bricks and tiles in one pile. They're priced by weight, so keeping them separate from light waste keeps that rate off your whole load.
Stack timber flat
Timber laid flat rather than tangled takes up far less space in the truck and loads faster - directly lowering a volume-based price.
Bundle metal and wiring
Group scrap metal and offcut wiring together. It's fully recyclable and quick to load when it's not scattered through the general pile.
Clear a path to the pile
Make sure the truck can get close and the crew has a clear run. A long carry from a back corner adds labour time to the quote.
Bag dust and small offcuts
Contain plasterboard dust and small scraps in bags so they don't blow around the site and can be loaded cleanly in one go.
Flag anything hazardous
Set aside suspected asbestos, chemicals or gas bottles and tell us before we arrive. These need licensed handling and can't go in a standard load.
NSW regulations
Construction waste disposal done by the book
Construction and demolition waste is regulated in NSW by the Environment Protection Authority under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997. A few rules directly affect what your job costs- and where the liability sits if waste isn't disposed of lawfully.
Waste must go somewhere that can lawfully accept it
Under Section 143 of the Act, construction and demolition waste has to be transported to a facility that is licensed to receive it. Dumping it anywhere else - or using an operator who does -can result in serious fines and penalties. This is the single most important reason to check that whoever clears your site actually takes it to a licensed facility.
The waste levy
NSW charges a per-tonne levy on material sent to landfill across the regulated area, which covers metropolitan Sydney, the Illawarra, the Hunter and the Central Coast. It rises each year, which is exactly why a mixed, contaminated load costs several times more to dispose of than a clean, separated one. On a large demolition, sorting materials on site can cut disposal costs by 30–50%.
Waste classification
Under the EPA's Waste Classification Guidelines, waste is classified before disposal, and the class decides where it can legally go:
- General solid waste - most builders waste: timber, plasterboard, packaging, insulation, tiles.
- VENM - virgin excavated natural material: uncontaminated soil, clay, sand and rock that can be reused as clean fill.
- ENM - excavated natural material meeting the EPA's resource recovery order criteria.
- Restricted / hazardous waste - contaminated soil, some treated timbers and industrial residues, which need specific licensed facilities.
Moving excavated soil off a Sydney site generally means getting it classified first. Uncertified soil is treated as contaminated and priced that way - the most common cause of budget blowout on excavation jobs.
Asbestos is licensed work
Asbestos can't be handled as ordinary construction waste. Bonded asbestos removal over 10m², and all friable asbestos, must be carried out by a SafeWork NSW licensed removalist. We don't remove asbestos - if we identify suspected asbestos on site we'll stop, flag it, and refer you to a licensed removalist. Buildings from before the 1990s should be assumed to contain it until tested.
Your Duty Of Care
Under NSW law, the waste generator stays responsible for ensuring waste is transported and disposed of lawfully - that responsibility can extend to the builder, head contractor and even the property owner. Using an unlicensed operator who dumps illegally exposes you to penalties running into tens of thousands of dollars. Ask any contractor for their licence details and keep a disposal receipt. We provide a tip docket for every load on request, showing the facility, date, tonnage and classification, plus a written recovery summary for Green Star, NABERS or council DA reporting.

How much does construction rubbish removal cost in Sydney?
Most jobs run from a minimum load around $180 to a full truck load up to about $1,200, priced by the space you use. Concrete, brick and soil are charged per tonne on top because of tipping fees. Send photos for a fixed quote in minutes.
Do you offer same-day rubbish removal?
Yes. Book before midday and we can usually attend the same day, subject to truck availability in your area. Next-day is standard with no premium.
Is it cheaper to hire a ute and do it myself?
Sometimes, for very small loads. But ute or trailer hire runs $80–$150 a day, plus fuel, plus the same per-tonne tip fees we pay, plus your time and usually two or three trips. Above a couple of cubic metres, one truck visit almost always wins — and you skip the tip queue on a Saturday.
Do I need a council permit?
Not for our service – the truck doesn’t stay on site. Skip bins placed on the nature strip or road generally need a council permit, which takes days and carries its own fee.
Can you remove concrete and bricks?
Yes. Heavy materials are charged separately by weight because of tipping fees, but we take them – and clean, separated loads cost you less because they’re recyclable.
Do you remove asbestos?
No. Asbestos must be handled by a SafeWork NSW licensed removalist. If we identify suspected asbestos we’ll stop and refer you to one. Assume pre-1990 buildings contain it until tested.
Can you access tight sites, apartments or high-rise?
Yes. We hand-load from basements, stairwells, balconies and units where trucks can’t reach, and coordinate lift bookings with building management.
Do you provide waste disposal receipts?
Yes, on request – a tip docket per load plus a written recovery summary for compliance, insurance, DA conditions and job costing.
How much notice do you need for a large demolition clean-up?
Two to three days for a multi-load job so we can allocate trucks and book tip windows. Single loads are usually next-day.
