Family owned, 7 days a week

Protecting your property and our crew

Sorted to keep usable items out of landfill
Payless Rubbish Removal is a family-owned business based in Sydney’s south, and the Sutherland Shire is where we do much of our work. From Cronulla units to Menai family homes and bush blocks in Engadine, we clear rubbish from right across the Shire, often on the same day you call.
You point, we lift. Our crew carries everything out of your home, garage, yard or office, loads it onto our truck and sweeps up before we leave. No skip bin on the nature strip, no council permit and no waiting weeks for a kerbside clean-up.
Every job is planned around the Shire: lift bookings and loading zones for apartments around Cronulla and Miranda, long driveways and big gardens in the south and west, and waterfront homes along Port Hacking and the Georges River. Whatever you need gone, you get a free, fixed quote first.

There are three main ways to get rid of bulky rubbish in the Sutherland Shire. Each one suits a different job, so here’s an honest comparison.
| Council clean-up | Skip bin | Payless | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free, but a limited number of booked clean-ups each year | Hire fee, plus a permit if it’s on the street | Fixed quote. You pay only for the space you use |
| Wait | Can be up to 8 weeks in busy periods | Usually a day or two, longer if you need a street permit | Often the same day |
| Who loads it | You, out to the kerb | You | Our crew, from anywhere on the property |
| Limits | About 3 m³ and two mattresses per clean-up | Bin size. No heavy overloading | Most non-hazardous rubbish |
| Left behind | Pile on the nature strip until collection | Bin in your driveway or on the street | Nothing. We sweep up |
Council details from Sutherland Shire Council. Rules can change, so check with Council before you book. See how our pricing works.
Council’s green bin has size and content limits. Keep branches under about 1 metre, and note that soil, rocks, bricks, stumps and logs aren’t accepted (Council bin guide). After a big prune, storm or yard tidy-up, we can take the lot in one load.
Planning to remove a whole tree? Check with Council first, as approval may be needed. Once it’s down, we can clear the branches.
We can’t take paint, gas bottles, chemicals or batteries. The Sutherland Shire currently has no Community Recycling Centre, though Council has proposed sites at Kareela and Kurnell, with the first possibly opening in 2027. Until then, use a Community Recycling Centre in another council area.
Council has also run e-waste drop-off days in Miranda. If you’d rather not wait, we can collect TVs, computers and monitors with the rest of your load.
Most Shire jobs are a mix of things, so there’s no need to sort anything first. Everything goes in one load and is priced by the space it takes up.
A note on fibro: bonded asbestos sheeting was used widely in buildings from the 1940s to the late 1980s. In NSW, friable asbestos and more than 10 m² of bonded asbestos must be removed by a licensed removalist (SafeWork NSW). Renovating an older Shire home? Have the asbestos removed first, and we’ll clear the rest.
We cover the whole Shire, from Kurnell to Waterfall and from Alfords Point to Bundeena. Here’s how it breaks down, and the kinds of jobs we see in each area.
Beachside units, holiday rentals and busy shopping strips, plus bigger family homes towards Burraneer and Lilli Pilli. Lots of apartment clear-outs, end-of-lease junk and furniture pickups.
The Shire’s main shopping and transport hub, with townhouses, units and established family streets. Household clear-outs, office and retail rubbish, and garage clean-ups.
Waterfront and canal homes, steep blocks and boat sheds. Expect long carries, stairs, jetty and shed clear-outs, and plenty of garden waste.
Larger family homes on bigger blocks. Our most common jobs here are full garage and shed clean-outs, renovation waste and backyard clear-ups.
Bush-edge properties next to the Royal National Park, with heavy green waste, storm clean-ups and long driveways. Bundeena and Maianbar by arrangement.

Yes. We service the whole Shire, from Cronulla and Kurnell to Menai, Engadine, Heathcote and Waterfall, and everywhere in between. Bundeena and Maianbar are by arrangement because of the drive through the national park. Call 0404 111 117 and we’ll confirm the next available time for your street.
Often, yes. If you call in the morning, we can usually have a truck with you that afternoon, 7 days a week. If today is booked out, we’ll normally fit you in the next day. It’s handy before a rental inspection, a property settlement or a weekend with visitors.
Council clean-ups are free but limited in number each year. Each one has a cap of about 3 m³ and two mattresses, and you have to carry everything to the kerb. Waits can reach up to eight weeks in busy periods. We collect from inside your home, garage or yard, take larger loads, and can often come the same day.
No. We load straight onto our truck, so nothing is left on the footpath or road. Skip bins placed on public land need Council approval, so check the notice time with Council before you book one. With us, you don’t need a permit.
Yes. Branches, palm fronds, hedge clippings, storm debris and bulky garden waste are some of our most common Shire jobs, especially on bush-edge blocks in Engadine, Heathcote and Menai. Let us know roughly how much there is, or send photos, and we’ll quote it.
Yes. Unit clear-outs are a regular job for us. Tell us about lift bookings, loading docks, visitor parking and any strata rules when you book. We’ll plan around them and protect common areas while we work.
Yes. We clear abandoned furniture and end-of-lease rubbish for Shire agents, strata managers and landlords, often at short notice before inspections. We can send photos when the job’s done.
No. Fibro from older homes may contain asbestos, and in NSW, any friable asbestos and more than 10 m² of bonded asbestos must be removed by a licensed removalist. Once the asbestos has been removed, we can clear the rest of your renovation waste.
There’s currently no Community Recycling Centre in the Sutherland Shire, though Council has proposed sites at Kareela and Kurnell. For now, use a Community Recycling Centre in another council area. We’ll take the rest of your rubbish.
